New Watch

"I bought a little watch that hangs off my belt.  I took off the wrist band and tied a super cool bracelet on that Someone sent me in a letter a while ago.  So my watch is hanging off my belt now instead of my wrist because I was getting a nasty tan line.

Here's Jake performing service in a member's backyard with a machete.  This is how they cut their grass down.  His comment with these pictures is "I miss my lawnmower."

The Limonar

For these pictures Jake wrote "cool sky by the Limonar."  I asked him what the Limonar is and he said it's just an area of the town.

Getting right to work

The day after Jake arrived in Puerto Barrios he helped some English-speaking doctors with translating for patients at a clinic they had set up in a local school.  Jake said it was one of the hardest things he has ever done.  Even though he is close to being fluent in Spanish, he had only been there one day, and wasn't used to the dialect.  All in all a very hard but rewarding experience.
